This is a compilation of information learned so far about the
family of J. T. Plumley and Mary Adaline Grumbles. It is a work in
progress, and all information contained herein, unless the listed
sources are official records, should be personally verified by the
reader.
Generally, J.T. is called his initials only in this report, although
there are various clues and bits of information that say his name was
James Turner Plumley. However, in the absence of some official record
such as a marriage license or death certificate that name is unproven,
although the "James" part is most probable, and the middle name of
"Turner" certainly does keep appearing in various places.
Much appreciation goes especially to Janet Plumley Taylor-Carusi, who
has been a major collector and source of significant amounts of this
information, and clues to find more. She grew up in the Plumley family,
whereas this author, although a great great granddaughter of J.T. and
Mary Adaline, only learned of their existence several years ago. Janet
has a website devoted to the Plumley family at
http://freepages.genealogy.rootsweb.com/~plumleysofcentraltx/.
Most of
the photographs in this report were graciously supplied by Janet
personally, or as a result of her connections with other family
members, with the major exception of the one of that of Minora Plumley
Best and her descendants.
Persons in this database who are either still living or assumed to be
still living are excluded from the Index, and appear on family cards
related to them only as (Private, Male) or (Private, Female).
If you see information about your own branch of this family which you
know to be either incorrect or incomplete, or if you have information
to add that doesn't even appear at all, please notify me. In the
absence of official data, many birth dates have been estimated purely
for the purpose of sorting, and to provide a rough time period to
research, in future data gathering efforts. Again, THIS IS A WORK IN
PROGRESS and we hope to continue adding more and/or better information. |
